Carmel Country Gardeners Meets on the third Monday of each month from 6:30- 8:30 in the homes of members in the Carmel Road area. The club has been around for over 50 years. They are a small but dedicated group of women who enjoy getting together to socialize and learn about different gardening topics. The meetings are very informal with appetizers and an online presentation from garden speakers on a variety of topics.
Davidson Garden Club Meets on the third Wednesday 9:30 am, Sept to May, in homes of members. Members are busy with several projects each year. Since 1984, the Davidson Horticultural Symposium has presented annual programs dedicated to the inspiration and education of professional and amateur gardeners. They also provide scholarships to deserving college and university students to attend the symposium. They design, arrange and install the Davidson Christmas Baskets all along the streets of Davidson during the Christmas season. Their newest project is a new park in Davidson called Beaty Park. The club has helped in the design of the park and identifying the plant materials to be used in the planters and garden beds. They plan to continue to work as advisors to the Parks and Recreation Department as the park's diverse areas are developed.
Montibello Garden Club Meets on the first Monday, 9:30am, Sept to May, in homes of members and/or field trip locations. Their programs cover a wide variety of horticulture and landscape topics that are presented via lectures, demonstrations and tours. We recently celebrated our 50th year! Every other year they hold an auction to support their CPCC Endowed Horticulture Scholarship. At their annual Hanging of the Greens in early December, they adorn the entrances to the beautiful Montibello neighborhood with fresh wreaths, garlands and bows, all handcrafted by members, in celebration of the upcoming holiday season.
Sedgefield Garden Club Meets 4th Monday 7:00 to 8:30pm from Sept to May, at the Betty Little House. Everyone is welcome to join them for programs on various gardening topics. They have a lighthearted, mostly garden themed auction in November (the Sunday before Thanksgiving) and a seed and seedling exchange in the spring. Their club was organized in 1949, which makes it 75 years old in 2024.
The Charlotte Herb Guild Meets on the second Tuesday at 6:00 pm, at the Betty Little House. The Charlotte Herb Guild and The Friends of President Polk's Birthplace Inc. are working together in re- developing and maintaining a Kitchen/Herb viewing garden at The Polk Historic Site. They continue to maintain the Herb Garden at the Hezekiah Alexander House and have added a section with dye plants. The meetings include delicious refreshments, usually with an herbal flair.
Eastover Garden Club Presently Inactive
Flower Power Garden Club Meets on the third Thursday 10am, at the Betty Little House from Sept to June. This great group of plant-lovers enjoys taking garden tours, participating in workshops and attending programs! They participate in a service project each year. They sponsor a youth club called “Blazing Bees”.
Sardiswood Garden Club meets on the second Wednesday ,12:30 to 2:30 PM, September to May, at the Betty Little House. Sardiswood Garden Club was founded in 1961 as a “Service to the Charlotte Community”. They continue to find ways to serve the community each year by maintaining school Gardens at Garringer High School and Fletcher School and help to maintain the Charlotte Council of Garden Clubs project-The Blue Star Memorial Garden at the Welcome Center on interstate 77 N., and the Betty Little House Garden-home of the Charlotte Council of Garden Clubs. They have a wide variety of programs, workshops, and tours that support their theme of the year. They sponsor a youth club called “Snapdragons”
